BIO As a child, I depended a lot on my creativity as a means of entertainment. I won my first contest at age 4, a bad drawing of Cinderella. From there, I continued to create. In 1987, I moved to Las Vegas where I developed further interest in art. Though I was 12, I attended adult education classes at UNLV where I studied a summer semester worth of watercolors. In junior high and high school, I was fortunate enough to be mentored by the same art teacher who allowed me to experiment and grow as an artist. In 2000, I graduated from UNLV with a BFA in Art and a BA in Film, and since then my work has been published on magazine covers, book covers and occassionally used as decor on tv sets. My self described style I would say is Surrealism. My primary elements of interests include nature, color, spirituality, people and fantasy, and I work in mostly oil, watercolor, acrylic, digital art, and using found objects. To date, I've done over 300 plus paintings. I used to keep a log, even numbering them, but I paint too much, and sometimes I paint over things, so the number has been skewed over time.I am a Signature Member of the Nevada Watercolor Society, served as President, Vice President and as Membership Officer for the Vegas Artists Guild, and usually am a member of the Contemporary Arts Center. STATEMENTDo you still do art?I find that question both amusing and irritating. I don't think art can simply be "done". It is a process, a reflection of experience, and something that cannot be removed from someone who aims to create it. Every piece is an attempt to create something that didn't exist before, at least in one's vision or interpretation of it. There is no end to that search. It is an ever constant spark in the back of my mind. Even if I had no intention of sharing these images with others, I would still be creating them for me and for whatever energy drives me to produce them. I'm not initially concerned about what a piece says. Usually, I figure it out by the time I'm done, but sometimes a piece remains a mystery. I do know, however, that my work often speaks of my subject's relationship to its environment. How is the world impacting it? How is it impacting the world? And then, where in that relationship are the invisible factors like emotion, thought or faith?
